The PRESTO Loyalty Program is the pass’s less-discussed competitor: once you complete 11 paid rides in a single week (Monday–Sunday), the rest of that week rides free. Break-even math: when does the $145 pass actually win?
That’s roughly 2 rides a day for 21 working days. If you commute 5 days a week with a return trip each day, that’s 40 rides — just under break-even. Add even two weekend trips and the pass pays off. Five-day commuters who also take MiWay on weekends will almost always benefit from the pass.

The GO Transit wrinkle: Ontario’s One Fare changes everything
If your commute involves GO Transit at all — even one day a week — the calculus shifts dramatically. Under Ontario’s One Fare Program, when you transfer between MiWay and GO Transit using the same PRESTO card (or contactless payment), your MiWay leg is completely free.
Tap your PRESTO card on MiWay to board. When you connect to a GO train or bus, the MiWay fare is automatically reimbursed to your card. If you start on GO and connect to MiWay, you tap onto the MiWay bus and no fare is deducted. The transfer window is 2 hours (MiWay-first) or 3 hours (GO-first).
This means a commuter who takes MiWay to Port Credit GO, then rides the GO Lakeshore West line into Union Station, pays only for their GO fare — roughly $6–7 each way depending on their Mississauga station. The MiWay portion costs nothing, as long as you’re tapping consistently with PRESTO.
For those riders, the MiWay monthly pass provides zero additional value on commute days. You’d only benefit from the pass for non-commute MiWay trips — errands, weekend rides, trips that don’t involve GO at all. The question becomes: how many of those do you actually take per month?

What about GO Transit’s own loyalty program?
GO Transit doesn’t sell a traditional monthly pass. Instead, it uses a PRESTO-based tiered loyalty system: your first 35 trips in a calendar month are charged at approximately 15.7% off the single-ride adult fare. From trip 36 onwards, the discount deepens based on cumulative monthly spending, with trips eventually becoming free after your 40th.
A Clarkson-to-Union commuter paying ~$6.50/trip. After 35 trips (roughly 17.5 working days), their per-trip cost starts dropping. If they hit 40 trips in a calendar month — about 20 working days — remaining trips are free. This makes high-frequency GO commuters better off loading cash onto PRESTO than buying any fixed-price pass.
GO Transit also offers a $10 Weekend Day Pass for unlimited Saturday or Sunday travel across the GO network. For Mississauga residents who do day trips on weekends, this can be excellent value — but it doesn’t change the daily commute math.
The Affordable Transit Program: the pass nobody talks about enough

The MiWay $145 monthly pass is a good deal in a specific and increasingly narrow use case: you are a frequent, MiWay-only rider who doesn’t connect to GO Transit. If that’s you — and you’re doing 42+ trips a month — the pass makes sense and saves you real money month after month.
But Mississauga’s transit reality in 2026 is that most regular commuters going downtown are using GO Transit, which means their MiWay leg is already free under One Fare. Paying $145/month on top of that is redundant. For those riders, the PRESTO card — loaded with e-purse funds and running both loyalty programs — is the sharper financial tool.
Many Mississauga residents auto-load a monthly MiWay pass out of habit, without realizing their GO-connected trips already cost $0 on MiWay. Check your PRESTO transaction history — if most of your MiWay taps show a co-fare reimbursement, you may be overpaying by $145 every single month.
