Disclaimer
What our numbers are, what they are not, and where the actual authority sits. Read this before you act on a figure from this site.
MississaugaWallet.ca publishes general financial information and estimating tools. Nothing on this site is financial, investment, tax, accounting, legal, mortgage, insurance, or real estate advice, and nothing here is tailored to your personal circumstances.
Information, Not Advice
We are an independent publisher, not a licensed advisory business. We are not registered or licensed as a financial planner, investment dealer, mortgage brokerage, real estate brokerage, insurance agent, public accountant, or law firm in Ontario or anywhere else.
Reading an article, using a calculator, or emailing us does not create an advisor-client, solicitor-client, or fiduciary relationship. We have not reviewed your income, debts, assessment notice, lease, mortgage terms, immigration status, business structure, or tax position — so nothing we publish can account for them.
02 / CalculatorsWhat a Calculator Result Actually Is
Every calculator on this site is an estimate produced by applying a published rate or formula to the inputs you type in. The output is a modelling exercise, not a determination.
A bill, invoice, tax assessment, or notice of any kind.
A quote, pre-approval, or offer from a lender, insurer, or utility.
A guarantee that your real cost will match, or come close to, the number shown.
Results depend entirely on the accuracy of your inputs and on the rate set in effect on the day the tool was last updated. Rounding, tier boundaries, exemptions, rebates, arrears, penalties, and account-specific adjustments can all move your real number.
Who Actually Sets Your Costs
We report on figures set by other bodies. Where our number and theirs disagree, theirs governs — always.
| If it concerns | The authority is |
|---|---|
| Property tax rates, billing, and instalment dates | City of Mississauga and Region of Peel |
| Your property’s assessed value | Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) |
| Business licensing, permits, and municipal fees | City of Mississauga |
| Water and wastewater charges | Region of Peel |
| Electricity rates and distribution charges | Ontario Energy Board and Alectra Utilities |
| Natural gas rates | Ontario Energy Board and Enbridge Gas |
| Income tax, HST, and credits | Canada Revenue Agency and Ministry of Finance (Ontario) |
| Land transfer tax | Ministry of Finance (Ontario) |
| Transit fares and PRESTO rules | MiWay, Metrolinx, and the relevant transit agency |
| Tenancy rights, rent increases, and evictions | Landlord and Tenant Board of Ontario |
Always confirm against your actual bill, assessment notice, lease, or the issuing authority’s own website before making a decision with money attached.
03 / TimeAccuracy and Currency
Municipal fees, utility rates, tax brackets, and program eligibility change on their own schedules — some annually, some quarterly, some mid-year with little notice. There is inevitably a gap between a change taking effect and this site reflecting it.
Each page carries a publication or last-verified date. Treat that date as the shelf life of the figures on it. We make no warranty that any page is current, complete, or free of error. Our verification standards and review cadence are set out in the Editorial Policy; if you spot a figure that is wrong or stale, please tell us through Corrections.
04 / MoneyAdvertising and Affiliate Disclosure
This site is free to read. It is funded by display advertising and by affiliate arrangements.
What that means in practice
Some outbound links are affiliate links, including through the Amazon Associates Program and similar arrangements. If you click one and complete a purchase or application, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Display advertising is served programmatically by third-party networks such as Google AdSense; the ads that appear are selected by those networks, not chosen or endorsed by us.
We do not accept payment for a favourable review, a ranking position, or a recommendation. Any content produced under a paid arrangement is labelled as sponsored on the page itself. Commercial relationships never determine our conclusions — see the Editorial Policy for how editorial and revenue are kept separate.
05 / Outside SourcesThird-Party Links and Content
We link to municipal pages, government PDFs, utility rate schedules, and third-party services because that is where the source data lives. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their accuracy, availability, pricing, terms, or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.
06 / OutcomesNo Guarantee of Results
Articles on this site describe savings that were achievable for a modelled household under stated assumptions. Your household is not that household. Savings figures are illustrative, not promised. Your rate plan, usage pattern, assessment, credit profile, tenure, and timing all change the outcome — sometimes to zero.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Ontario law, MississaugaWallet.ca is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your reliance on content or calculator output published here. The full liability terms — including the cap and the consumer-rights carve-out — are set out in the Terms of Use.
07 / What To Do InsteadGet Advice From Someone Licensed
Before a binding decision — buying or selling property, signing a mortgage or lease, restructuring a business, filing a tax position, disputing an assessment — consult a professional who is licensed for that specific matter in Ontario and who has reviewed your actual documents. A qualified financial planner, real estate lawyer, chartered professional accountant, licensed mortgage broker, or paralegal will catch what a general-audience article structurally cannot.
Questions
Email info@mississaugawallet.ca. We cannot answer questions about your personal financial situation, and we will not review your documents or tell you what to do — that is exactly the line this page draws. Factual errors go through Corrections.
