Terms of Use
The rules that govern your use of MississaugaWallet.ca, its articles, and its calculators. Read them before relying on anything published here.
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and MississaugaWallet.ca (“we,” “us,” “the Site”). By accessing the Site, reading its articles, or using any calculator or interactive tool hosted on it, you accept these Terms in full. If you do not accept them, stop using the Site.
01 / What This Site IsNature of the Service
MississaugaWallet.ca is a publisher. We produce editorial articles, cost breakdowns, and free interactive calculators covering municipal fees, utility rates, property taxes, transit costs, and household expenses specific to Mississauga and the Region of Peel.
We are not a financial institution, brokerage, advisory firm, law firm, accounting practice, real estate brokerage, or licensed intermediary of any kind. Nothing on this Site creates an advisor-client, solicitor-client, agency, fiduciary, or professional relationship between you and us.
Everything published here is general information. It is not advice about your specific situation, and it is not a substitute for a licensed professional who has reviewed your actual circumstances. See the full Disclaimer.
Who May Use the Site
The Site is intended for adults making household or small-business financial decisions. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you are using the Site on behalf of a business or organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
03 / Your LicencePermitted Use
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and view the Site for your own household, educational, or internal business purposes. You may:
- Read, print, and save individual pages for personal reference
- Use the calculators to estimate your own costs
- Quote short excerpts (roughly a paragraph or less) in commentary, research, or reporting, provided you attribute MississaugaWallet.ca and link to the original page
Prohibited Use
You may not, without our prior written permission:
- Republish, syndicate, mirror, or redistribute our articles, tables, or datasets in whole or in substantial part
- Scrape, crawl, harvest, or use automated tooling to extract content, figures, or calculator logic at scale
- Use Site content to train, fine-tune, or ground a commercial machine-learning model or generative AI product
- Copy, decompile, reverse-engineer, or reimplement any calculator, formula set, or rate table hosted here for use in a competing product or service
- Remove, obscure, or alter attribution, bylines, source citations, or “last verified” dates
- Present our content as your own, or as endorsed by us when it is not
- Interfere with the Site’s operation, security, or availability, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of it
- Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of Ontario or Canadian law
Intellectual Property
All content on this Site — including written articles, headlines, calculator interfaces and underlying formulas, charts, neighbourhood data compilations, page layouts, the MississaugaWallet.ca name, and the site logo — is owned by us or used under licence, and is protected by Canadian and international copyright and trademark law.
Raw public data (for example, a municipal fee schedule published by the City of Mississauga or a rate approved by the Ontario Energy Board) is not owned by us. Our selection, arrangement, verification, calculation, and presentation of that data is.
05 / ToolsCalculators and Interactive Tools
Our calculators are estimating tools. They apply published rates and formulas to the inputs you provide. They are provided “as is,” without warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose.
What a calculator result is not
It is not a bill, a quote, an assessment, a tax determination, a pre-approval, or a commitment from any municipality, utility, lender, or government body. Actual amounts owed are set solely by the City of Mississauga, the Region of Peel, MPAC, the Canada Revenue Agency, the Ontario Energy Board, or the relevant provider — not by this Site. Rates change, and there may be a lag between a rate changing and this Site reflecting it.
You are responsible for the inputs you enter and for verifying any figure against your actual bill, assessment notice, or the issuing authority before acting on it.
06 / Your SubmissionsComments, Feedback, and User Content
If you submit a comment, correction, tip, or other material to us, you keep ownership of it, but you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual licence to reproduce, edit, publish, and use it in connection with the Site — including publishing it, in whole or in part, alongside a correction notice.
You confirm that anything you submit is yours to submit, is not confidential, and does not infringe anyone’s rights. We may edit, refuse, or remove any submission at our discretion, and we are under no obligation to publish or act on feedback. Do not send us personal financial documents, account numbers, or sensitive personal information.
07 / MoneyAdvertising, Affiliate Links, and Sponsorship
The Site is free to read and is funded by display advertising and affiliate arrangements. Some outbound links may earn us a commission if you click through and complete an action. This costs you nothing extra.
Advertising and affiliate relationships do not determine our editorial conclusions, rankings, or recommendations. Our full independence commitments are set out in the Editorial Policy, and our monetization disclosures in the Disclaimer.
08 / External SitesThird-Party Links
We link extensively to municipal pages, government PDFs, utility rate schedules, and other outside sources. Those sites are operated by others. We do not control their content, accuracy, availability, security, or privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them. Following an external link is at your own risk and subject to that site’s own terms.
09 / RiskDisclaimer of Warranties
The Site and everything on it are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory — including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement — to the fullest extent permitted by law.
We work hard to verify every published figure against primary sources, but we do not warrant that the Site will be error-free, uninterrupted, current, or complete. Rates, fees, and municipal rules change frequently, and information that was accurate when published may not be accurate when you read it.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Ontario law, MississaugaWallet.ca and anyone associated with it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of profits, savings, data, business opportunity, or goodwill, arising out of or connected to your use of — or inability to use — the Site, its content, or its calculators, whether the claim is framed in contract, tort, negligence, or otherwise, and even if we were advised such damages were possible.
Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have that cannot legally be waived, including rights under Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MississaugaWallet.ca and its operator from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Site, your breach of these Terms, your infringement of a third party’s rights, or content you submit to us.
11 / AdministrationPrivacy
Your use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect, why, and how you can control it. It is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
Availability and Termination
We may modify, suspend, relocate, or discontinue any part of the Site — including individual articles or calculators — at any time and without notice. We may also restrict or terminate your access if we believe you have breached these Terms.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the law or in how the Site operates. The revision date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Material changes take effect when posted, and continuing to use the Site afterward means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in Ontario, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. You agree that the courts of the Province of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Site, subject to any non-waivable right you have to bring a claim in your local jurisdiction or before a consumer tribunal.
Severability and Entire Agreement
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, that provision is severed and the remainder stays in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Disclaimer, Editorial Policy, and Corrections Policy, form the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Site.
